The digital power meter GOBLIN is a micro-controller based unit which not only measures a host of electrical parameters to display them on a 128 x 64 backlit LCD, but also acts as a comprehensive load managing device due to its four numbers of output relay contacts. These outputs are individually field programmable for both the parameter on which to generate alarm as well as the values on which to activate alarm and deactivate it. In addition to this flexibility in terms of load management, the meter also has two serial ports: USB port and RS485. RS485 supports MODBUS RTU protocol for connections to EMS/SCADA. Goblin has two USB ports-one where a cable connection to laptop/pc is made(Device mode) and another where the unit directly accepts a pendrive(Host mode).
The unit is meant for use in three phase four wire / three wire systems. The installation type, CT ratios and PT ratios are site selectable.
The Load Manager with its four relay contacts can be used as a Demand Controller. The method of Demand calculation is sliding window and fixed window.

Maximum Demand Controller is a smart maximum demand controller designed for industries to keep a check on their maximum demand. It gives an alarm when demand approaches a preset value and also switches off non- essential loads in a pre-programmed logical sequence. This predictive maximum demand controller (MDC) allows stage wise load restoration to maximize the use of a sanctioned load. Maxchek is most suitable for the demand control of industrial consumers, HT consumers, and commercial establishments.
Parameters:
Contract Demand is the Maximum Demand which is sanctioned by the electricity authorities at the time of application for sanction of the load.
Allowed demand is set by the user with considering some margin to avoid any demand shoot up or exceed due to any reason.
Rising Demand is demand value at the present moment. It is zero at the beginning of IP (in the case of fixed type demand) and increases as load the load increased within the IP.
Present Load is last averaging cycle’s (1 to 5) load which clearly indicates your recent demand condition.
Present Load = Energy consumed in the last averaging period * 60 / Length of period
Time Left is time since now after which demand will cross allowed limit.
Suggested Load is the further load that needs to be maintained during remaining IP to keep the demand within allowed limit.
Spare Load Capacity is the amount of load that can be added to remain within safe limit of allowed demand.
